EA sued because of Spore DRM
Class action filed in US District Court contends that publisher hides fact game installs irremovable SecuROM, violating two California laws.
People were surprised when they tried to install this game into three computers thanks to a thing called SecuROM. This lets a lock to be turned on after the game is installed so many times. So many people were mad that someone is now suing EA over this. Last week EA tried to make things better by changing that number to 5. EA also said that when the game is installed it can never the SecuROM can never can not be removed. Thats not it though, EA is now being sued by this week, a class action suit was filed in the North District of California Court by the law firm KamberEdelson on behalf of one Melissa Thomas and all other Spore purchasers. The suit contends that EA violated the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act and Unfair Competition Law by not informing consumers installing Spore will also install SecurROM.
"Although consumers are told the game uses access control and copy protection technology, consumers are not told that this technology is actually an entirely separate, stand-alone program which will download, install, and operate on their computer," read the complaint. "Once installed, it becomes a permanent part of the consumer's software portfolio. Even if the consumer uninstalls Spore, and entirely deletes it from their computer, SecurROM remains a fixture on their computer unless and until the consumer completely wipes their hard drive through reformatting or replacement of the drive."
The suit accuses EA of "intentionally" hiding the fact Spore uses SecurROM, which it alleges is "secretly installed to the command and control center of the computer (Ring 0, or the Kernel) and [is] surreptitiously operated, overseeing function and operation of the computer, and preventing the computer from operating under certain circumstances and/or disrupting hardware operations." The suit also claims the SecurROM takes over a portion of the PC's processing resources "to transmit information back to EA."

Hands On With GTA IV on PC (X-Play Post)
Rockstar shows their love for the PC again with a massively up-res’ed version of Grand Theft Auto 4 due out in November, and the improvements and extra features might be enough to inspire even diehard console gamers to jack a computer and give Liberty City a visit on the PC.
The most noticeable difference between the PC version of the game and the console versions are the graphics. GTA IV PC outputs at 2560x1600 with improved textures and draw distances, meaning that even on a 106” television the graphics are downright breathtaking. In the “3 Leaf Clover” mission shown behind closed doors at the Leipzig Games Convention, the improvements are most noticeable when speeding over the bridges into the towering downtown environments. While the port is a work in progress, the best basis for graphic comparison is this: The trees lining the city streets haven’t been redone for PC yet, and basically look like square paper collages compared to the rest of the game, again on a television larger than the walls of many New York, I mean, Liberty City, apartments

GTA IV PC confirmed
Liberty City will be looked upon again through your Windows, as Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV will be arriving for the PC this November 18 in North America and the 21st in Europe. After rumors made its way around the net for months, Niko Bellic and crew finally made their way with a "newly expanded multiplayer" experience, exclusive to the PC.
"The whole team is dedicated to bringing an amazing gaming experience to the PC," said by Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser. "The game looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can't wait for people to play it."
Grand Theft Auto IV, developed by Rockstar North, was previously released for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 this past April.

PS2 Causes's War!!
The decade long war in Africa is called "The PlayStation War" by some, because it came about partially because of insatiable Western demand for a rare black ore called coltan that is used in the PS2 as well as other electronic equipment. Evidence shows that hundreds of millions of dollars worth of coltan were stolen from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and the most active thieves were reportedly the Rwandan military, fueling tensions between the two nations.Read more at:

Gaming Company Sue
Atari has apparently claimed that the date of 4Players review--which gave the 360 version of the survival-horror title 68%--implies it came from an illicit or incomplete copy of Alone in the Dark. They are asking for an undisclosed amount of compensation. 4Players says they acquired the game through a retail connection.
